Trek Overview

About This Trek

Often called the "Valley of Glaciers," Langtang offers raw Himalayan beauty just two days north of Kathmandu. Trek through rhododendron forests and yak pastures into a stunning glacier valley, deeply shaped by Tamang Buddhist culture and the resilience of communities after the 2015 earthquake.

Langtang is Nepal's most accessible high-altitude valley — yet it remains surprisingly quiet. The rebuilt villages carry a spirit of renewal, the landscape is grand, and the cultural richness of the Tamang people adds layers of meaning to every step.

Expert Advice

Important Tips for Trekkers

Lila's field knowledge – make your Langtang trek safe and unforgettable.

Tserko Ri Sunrise

Start from Kyanjin at 5:00 AM. The 360° panorama of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Shishapangma (Tibet) is worth the early wake‑up.

Acclimatisation

Day 6 in Kyanjin Gompa is critical – do the short hike to Kyanjin Ri or the glacier to adapt. Don’t just rest.

Cash & ATMs

Last reliable ATM in Syabrubesi. Carry enough Nepali rupees for the entire trek (40,000–50,000 NPR).

Try Yak Cheese

The cheese factory at Kyanjin Gompa makes fresh yak cheese – a delicious local specialty. Buy a block to support the community.

Road Condition

Kathmandu → Syabrubesi road is winding and often bumpy. Take motion sickness pills if needed. Allow buffer days for delays.

Travel Insurance

Must cover helicopter evacuation up to 5,000 m. Rescue from above Kyanjin can cost $3,000–5,000.
